About Sebastian Jugl

Sebastian Jugl, Ph.D., is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. He is a pharmacist trained in Germany and earned his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a concentration in Pharmacoepidemiology from the University of Florida in 2025. Dr. Jugl’s research aims to help patients live longer and healthier by generating real-world evidence on the safety, effectiveness, and utilization of medications, with a particular emphasis on cancer survivorship and cardiovascular health. His work applies pharmacoepidemiologic methods on large-scale healthcare data to identify clinically important safety signals, and better understand treatment outcomes in vulnerable patient populations. His research is currently supported by an American Heart Association Career Development Award focused on developing risk-stratified evidence on the cardiovascular safety of medical cannabis. He also leads research examining medical cannabis use, safety, and effectiveness among patients with cancer. Dr. Jugl is committed to mentoring students and trainees in pharmacoepidemiology and real-world evidence research, and his contributions to research, mentorship, and professional service have been recognized by the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology and other organizations.
